At Meaningful Activities Occupational Therapy Services, we embrace a neurodiversity-affirming approach as we promote health and well-being through occupation, which encompasses meaningful activities that enrich our lives.

Alex

Director & Occupational Therapist

Alex completed his Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Occupational Therapy at Flinders University in 2017 and has consulted in different areas of the health and disability sectors since then. He has worked with children, young adults, and mature adults to explore what activities are meaningful to them.  He used his occupational therapy lens to help them build the capacity to engage in these activities. 

Alex is passionate about working with individuals who are neurodivergent, as well as those with brain injuries, stroke and psychosocial disabilities, and other neurological conditions. He can provide comprehensive OT assessments, provide ongoing therapy for capacity building, prescribe assistive technology, and carry out some home modifications.  Alex is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with his clients, their caregivers, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that holistic care is upheld. 

When Alex is not working, he enjoys being active, moving for regulation, spending time with family, reading manga or watching anime, and playing Magic: The Gathering.

Shammah

Occupational Therapist

Shammah is a dedicated occupational therapist who firmly believes in the power of the neurodiversity-affirming approach in therapy.  She utilises a strengths-based methodology to assist individuals in achieving their goals and engaging in activities that hold personal significance. Shammah’s approach is characterised by a deep curiosity and a commitment to understanding what is most important to her clients. She excels in developing creative strategies to facilitate their engagement in meaningful activities. 

Graduating from Flinders University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of Occupational Therapy, Shammah has been immersed in the NDIS community since her student days, initially as an Allied Health Assistant.  Upon graduation, she further honed her skills as an occupational therapist within the same community. 

Shammah’s expertise spans working with children and adults who are neurodivergent or facing psychosocial challenges. She emphasises the importance of collaboration with families and other stakeholders.  She is proficient in conducting functional capacity assessments (FCA) and other OT assessments. This allows her to provide tailored support and interventions that align with her clients' goals and enhance their daily living experiences.  She can also assist in prescribing assistive technology solutions and some minor home modifications.  Shammah cherishes the versatility of occupational therapy and the opportunity it provides to support individuals at all stages of life.

Outside of her professional life, Shammah is an enthusiast of diverse hobbies, including cooking, basketball, surfing, snowboarding, and spending quality time with family and friends.  She also has a passion for travel, relishing the chance to experience different cultures and lifestyles.

Shae

Allied Health Assistant

Shae is an outstanding professional who is passionate about assisting children, young adults, and adults with various disabilities.  She achieved her Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance at TafeSA in 2022 and has accumulated a decade of experience in early years education. Shae’s vast array of skills enables her to encourage her clients to discover their interests and strengths and assist them in activities they find fulfilling.

Shae’s prowess stems from her creativity, compassionate nature, and bubbly personality.  She has an energetic character, is adept at tuning in to her clients’ needs, and can provide calm and focused attention.  This makes her a delightful and versatile professional to interact with. Shae cherishes spending moments with her young family during her leisure time, further exemplifying her dynamic spirit.  With Shae, one can expect a vibrant, engaging, and empathetic interaction that leaves a long-lasting, positive impression.

Katrina

Occupational Therapist

Katrina is a dedicated occupational therapist with a special interest in early childhood intervention and psychosocial disabilities. She is committed to working with her clients in achieving their goals and enabling meaningful occupational participation through a client-centered and strengths-based approach. She believes in collaborating closely with families and other professionals to ensure comprehensive and individualised care.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Occupational Therapy from Flinders University in 2022, Katrina began her professional journey as a community-based occupational therapist, working within the NDIS, My Aged Care, and Private Health sector. Katrina has experience in working with neurodivergent individuals and those facing psychosocial challenges. She also has experience with prescribing assistive technology, implementing minor home modification, working with older adults with chronic conditions, and addressing mental health needs in children and adolescents. She is proficient in conducting Functional Capacity Assessments and various OT assessments, allowing her to deliver tailored interventions that improve daily living.

Outside of her professional work, Katrina channels her creativity through various arts and crafts, including embroidery, crocheting, and drawing. She finds these activities both relaxing and expressive. Additionally, Katrina enjoys staying active through physical pursuits like salsa dancing and hiking. She also treasures spending quality time with family and friends, often sharing her crafting passion and love for physical activity with them.
